What does a day as a Medior Cloud Engineer look like?
As a Medior Cloud Engineer, you’ll be a part of the Cloud Cobras. Your work will mostly consist of keeping the infrastructure up-to-date and future-proof, implementing new technologies and improvements. Together with Rafi and Richard, you are also first responders if there are any issues with the Spend Cloud. Luckily, that doesn’t happen very often, so there is plenty of time for:
- The daily huddle at 08:45, where you give each other updates on Jira issues and discuss what spontaneous tasks need to be handled
- The weekly Monday Meet to discuss the backlog
- Reviewing your colleagues’ code
- Working on your Jira tickets, like giving developers the option to replicate specific product scenarios without them having to use the live environment
- Having lunch and taking a nice walk outside or playing some Mario Kart with colleagues
- Diving into specific bugs by having a meeting with your colleagues
- Researching new tooling, reading up on the most current best practices for infrastructure scenarios and thinking about how you can improve the CI/CD pipelines
You’ll also attend the Technical Debt Prevention Meet the Cloud Cobras host three times a year. The idea is that anyone in the team can add a discussion point and when the list reaches 5 points, you plan a meeting of a maximum of 2 hours to discuss all 5 points. It’s a great opportunity to really dive into something you think is interesting.
Why do I want to be a Medior Cloud Engineer?
- The Cloud Cobras work with Scrum / Agile Kanban, so there is always something to work on, instead of focusing on two-week sprints
- You’ll get to work with the most innovative technologies, like Kubernetes and experimenting with cloud services
- If you have a suggestion for new tooling, go right ahead! The Cloud Cobras are very interested in new ideas
- The Cloud Cobras are a self-managing team, so you decide what gets done together
- Any ProActivian can participate in the annual hackathon, during which you can work on any project you like as long as it’s relevant to the product or the company
- You’ll be working in a flat, informal organisation with social activities like playing Fifa or darts at the office, sports tournaments, the annual company outing and monthly game nights and parties. Check out our Facebook and Instagram for pictures!
- A good salary with competitive terms of employment and a pension plan. Based on a 40-hour workweek, you have 7 flexible holidays, 26 days off and the possibility to buy up to 10 more
What do I need to be a Medior Cloud Engineer?
You have:
- At least 3 years of experience with designing and implementing cloud solutions, and programming languages like Golang and Python
- At least 3 years of experience with Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CD practices
- Knowledge of cloud computing and public cloud platforms, like GCP
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills in English. If you also speak Dutch, that’s even better
It would be nice if you had experience with Agile Scrum practices. If you don’t, we’ll help you learn.
Visma | ProActive as an employer
We work together to make the Spend Cloud better at Visma | ProActive. Software that simplifies all business expenses. We work with non-profit organisations like health care and education organisations, but we also work with business companies. What kind of impact do we have on a day-to-day basis? Healthcare employees have more money to spend taking care of children, the elderly and people with a disability. Teachers have more time to prepare their lessons. We make sure people are able to ‘just’ do their job. We free up time and take away the worry.
How does the application process work?
You send us your resume (and/or showcase), and an indication of your salary. We take a close look and get back to you as soon as possible, within 5 weekdays at the latest.
Does your first impression make us curious? Then we will invite you for a short call with Veronica from Human Capital, so we can get to know you. After this, you will receive a technical assignment to show off your skills! Lastly, we schedule a technical meeting with the team to see whether your way of thinking and working matches Visma | ProActive’s way of developing.
Everybody happy? Welcome to the team! Help us become the ultimate spend assistant.

About ProActive Software Nederland B.V.
We ontzorgen. Meer hierover lees je in de Visma | ProActive cases.
